We stayed in a lovely private retreat with lush tropical gardens and a few guest cottages. the location was perfect, with everything within walking distance. the room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the garden. the breakfast, made with passion by the hosts, was delicious and there were always different options available. the hosts were friendly and knowledgeable, even knowing exactly where to find the giraffe family in the nature reserve.
The main street with all the restaurants can sometimes get a bit noisy in the evenings.

Just spent 5 unforgettable nights at Kwalucia. This is 5 star luxury experience, from the beautifully decorated African suite with every comfort available, to the fabulous garden filled with tropical trees, plants & a great swimming pool. The delicious breakfast each day by the pool is a feast of homemade delights - fresh fruit salad, unique combination of squeezed fruit juices, scrumptious bread & cake each day and a made to order hot breakfast. They always went beyond what you would expect a host to do, such as getting up in the middle of the night to provide us with a wonderful picnic cool box and flask of coffee for our day of game viewing, & even spotting us in a restaurant after dinner and whisking us off in their car so that we would not miss seeing hippos munching grass in the streets. Kwalucia is a haven of peace and quiet in the heart of town. The location is perfect – a few minutes walk to the main street for shops & restaurants & totally safe to walk at night, as well as being a great base for exploring the Wetlands and Game Reserve.
We recommend this hotel.

I had a truly amazing stay at a private safari retreat in a tropical environment. The property was stunning and well-kept, with separate cabanas offering privacy. The hosts were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I loved the unexpected amenities like the honesty bar and the presence of friendly guard dogs that kept the monkeys away. The breakfast was delicious, with a variety of freshly made options. The location was great, just a short walk from the main street where there were food options and supermarkets. I had a wonderful and memorable experience at this retreat.
